Is this band really gonna work?!?

I know I was totally geeked about my 4 lb loss yesterday.  It's a new day and I'm feeling sorry for myself.  Pity party in aisle 1.

While at the office yesterday I told the PA (I have not seen my Dr. since surgery and will more than likely never see him again) that I can eat more than a cup and that I get hungry sooner than 4 hours.  She suggested I eat smaller portions just more often...instead of larger portions at one time.

I was given a .5 cc fill as I only have a 10 cc band.  She stated she didn't want to dilate (or something like that) my band.  So all my fills from this point on will be small.

Today I'm on mushies...so I had Amy's Creamy Chicken Divan soup (delicious by the way).  I made a 1 cup portion.  When I felt the hunger come on I had half a cup.  Barely an hour later and my stomach was talking to me again.  I had the other portion of the soup at 11:45.  It's now 1:12 p.m. and I'm hungry.

Am I doing something wrong?  I am utilizing the the small plates, small containers for work, small utensils, drinking tons of water.  I don't drink protein shakes and I can't find one I can stomach.  I do get lots of protein from my food.

I set new goals at the beginning  of the week.  The main goal is to exercise at least 5 days.  I'm doing that as well.

Oh I'm so flustered right now.  I know it has only been 3 months...but gosh darn I think mine is broken!!  It's just not working...do I get another one or am I doomed to have a faulty product.  Then again it could be user error.

I totally suck frog tails and toenails right now.

It is hard to gauge restriction when you are eating liquids and mushies. They just go right through the band so they don't stay with you the same as real food.

Sometimes the band is frustrating. I know we sometimes wonder why they can't give us bigger fills, but .5 cc's can make a BIG difference. Wait until you are eating regular food before you get too discouraged.

And keep going in for your fills every 2-4 weeks. Restriction makes a big difference and it is worth the wait!

I know because I've lost 106+ lbs. in a year. It works!

I'm sorry to hear that you're having a hard time. I'm no familiar with how being "banded" works, but I hope it gets better for you. I just found your blog today and became a follower. Looking forward to reading more entries. Take care <3

I agree with Amanda, soup is not a good gauge of restriction. Wait until you're back on solids to make your

Don't forget to drink your water between meals too.

I agree with Amanda and Sarah and I will add - that it takes time. I didn't really feel useful restriction to closer to 6 months. It's hard to get through that part of it. Keep doing what you know to be the right thing. Eat protein first, drink lots of water, but not around your eating - etc, etc, etc.

I kept telling my doctor I wasn't feeling any indication I had the band and he kept thinking I was insane, and finally after one fill or another I started to get it. I think the right amount is different for everyone. Good luck and hang in there!

Okay I have no lap band advice but can I just say frog tails and toenails is totally the cutest thing I've ever heard.

Yeah to what everyone else has said.. but I do have one question. Do they pull the whole volume out and confirm before they give you the fill.. I mean if you are feeling no restriction what so ever.. I would wonder if the fill is all there. The reason why i say so.. is that I had one fill that did not go in.. I dont know what he was filling but it was not my band..hang in there.. we love ya

Thanks for the support ladies. I'm gonna try to leave the pity aisle. I know it is a process. I guess paitience isn't my strong point.

Barb...they only did that during my very first fill. However, I am goign to request it happens at my next fill just to be sure. Thanks for the insight.
